Let My Words Be Few

Updated: Nov 2, 2018

Some days are filled with words.  They pour out like quicksilver and it’s all these fingers can do to catch them.  Some days are stingy. Thoughts and phrases tumble by in fits and starts.

Tree of Life, Sutherland Springs, Mother Emanuel.  Squirrel Hill, Texas, Charleston. Jewish, Baptist, AME.  Holy-tragic-trinity.

“Why do people have to die?  To make life important.” Nate to Tracy, Six Feet Under season 1.

Zikhrono Livrakha.  May their memory be for blessing.  (Jewish honorific upon death from Proverbs 10:7  “The memory of the righteous shall be for a blessing; But the name of the wicked shall rot.”)  JPS Tanakh. Victims are named. Perpetrators are not.

Joyce, Richard, Rose, Jerry, Cecil, David, Bernice, Sylvan, Daniel, Melvin, Irving, Annabelle, Keith, Robert, Shani, Bryan, Karla, Danny, Noah, Crystal, Megan, Emily, Greg, Dennis, Sara, Haley, Robert, Karen, Tara, Therese, Ricardo, Joann, Brooke, Emily, Peggy Lynn, Lula, Unborn Baby Holcombe, Clementa, Cynthia, Sharonda, Tywanza, Ethel, Susie, DePayne, Daniel, Myra…

Faithfully gathered.  Faithfully gathered-up.  Into thy hands, I commend my spirit….

Mr. Rogers, we need you.
