Impact

Hurricane Dorian is on the way and we are bracing for impact. But impact is already here.

Chainsaws whining into the night - taking the dead parts down by choice.

Bread aisle empty, all but the raisin kind.

Pallets of water stacked haphazardly near store entrances. Wrestling 32 shrink-wrapped bottles = weight training, surely.

Swooping in for $12.31 worth of gas - keeping that needle at F.

The biggest jar of peanut butter instead of the little one.

Two words. Pop. Tarts.

Ever decreasing laundry load size - going into this thing with no dirty clothes if I can help it.

Flashlights, lanterns and batteries. Check.

Crackley little radio. Transistor from way way back.

Books. Real ones that don't have to be recharged.

Contingency plans upon contingency plans for work. Dream't I couldn't log on for a meeting so the whole team magically showed up at my house - from Texas and Costa Rica - for a live version. In a hurricane. I was in a nightgown and robe the whole time but oddly unconcerned.

Trying not to think about last time.

Trying not to think about next time.

Trying not to think.

Plan for the worst. Hope for the best. Impact is already here. Grace and Peace all around. Selah.
